LUNAR YEAR OF THE TIGER
This is the second in the current series of Lunar New Year designs. 2010 is Year of the Tiger. Our cachet is an all-over design with the head of a tiger coming through a pagoda type edifice. A tiger outline and the symbol for Year of the Tiger is shown at the lower right, with a multi-hued watercolor background. This original design is hand-drawn and hand-painted, then reproduced in full color. A gold braided trimming is set on the finished cover in two levels of the pagoda to give a three dimensional look.

This cachet design features a portrait of Bill Mauldin drawing one of his cartoons. To the right, his personal jeep (see name on bumper) is depicted. The stamp and pictorial postmark appear on the upper right of the cover, and add to the design.

DGX #195 2010 DUCK-WIGEON FDC This cachet features a male Wigeon in a tranquil water scene. Much attention has been paid to the details in the coloring, shape and feathers, as the duck creates a wake in the smooth waters. There is a glisten in the Wigeon's eye, added by hand to each cover.
